Change of direction among customs managers

Since September, the SIVEP has been sending samples to the laboratory as part of the PSPC and IOC. However, difficulties have been encountered in sending offal due to the incorrect use of the NC code.

Often, shipments contain viscera (mainly livers) while the customs code used is 02061095 (hanging tenders and hanger steak) instead of 02061098 (other than hanging tenders and hanger steak). Although SIVEP is not responsible for detecting these errors, this can pose problems in managing alerts, especially if the shipment is destined for another Member State.

To avoid these difficulties, please use the appropriate customs codes to certify offal accurately:

• 02061095 for hanging tenders and hanger steak
• 02061098 for other offal (heart, liver, tongue, etc.)
